About this board

Nine millimetre birch in BB/BB grade, which means both faces are sound and sanded but carry tidy colour-matched patches where knots have been cut out. With seven plies of birch and an exterior phenolic glue line, it is far stiffer and more screw-friendly than poplar ply of the same thickness.

This is the grade for painted work, jig making, van linings and cabinet interiors, where a patch or two does no harm. Buyers wanting a clear face for lacquered work should look at B/BB instead. It cuts cleanly on a panel saw fitted with a scoring blade.
