Chipboard.
Flooring grades are tongue and groove on four sides: P5 is moisture resistant for domestic floors, and P6 is the heavy-duty board for mezzanines and storage platforms. For carcasses and shelving, P2 is the plain furniture board, while MFC comes ready faced in white, black, grey and woodgrain decors.

Buying guide
How to choose chipboard.
P5 tongue and groove is the standard flooring board in UK houses: moisture resistant, load bearing, and laid over joists at up to 600mm centres in 22mm. P6 at 38mm is for mezzanines and heavy duty floors.
P2 is furniture grade, a smooth stable core for carcasses and worktops that are faced afterwards. Melamine faced chipboard arrives finished on both sides for kitchen and wardrobe carcasses. Glue every flooring joint with a D4 adhesive.
