Blanks have a solid particleboard core and MDF faces, sanded ready to veneer, laminate or paint, and arrive unlipped so you can lip and size them yourself. Fire blanks keep their rating only when machined, lipped and hung to the maker data sheet, so read the certification before you cut.

How to choose door blanks.
Door blanks are cut to size and lipped by the joiner. Fire door blanks are certified for 30 or 60 minutes as part of a complete door set, with the right frame, intumescent seals, hinges and closer. Internal blanks have a particle core with MDF faces ready for veneer, laminate or paint.
Keep the certification paperwork with the job. Cutting limits and lipping details come from the blank maker.
