About this timber

A 47 x 150mm C16 section in 4.8m lengths, kiln dried and strength graded. It suits floor joists and rafters on modest spans, lintels in timber frames, and deep studs where a wall needs room for extra insulation.

Always size joists from span tables or an engineer, since C16 is less stiff than C24. Store flat on bearers, stickered, to stop twisting. Untreated timber should stay dry and ventilated; use treated lengths for sole plates and anything touching masonry.
