About this board
Lighter and cheaper than 12.5mm, Knauf 9.5mm standard plasterboard suits ceilings with joists at 450mm centres or less, overboarding old ceilings and lining walls on battens. Tapered edges allow a flush taped joint, and the ivory face takes a skim coat directly.
At under 19kg a board, it is far easier to lift overhead. It gives lower fire and sound performance than 12.5mm, so check what building control expects for the job. Screw at 230mm centres on ceilings and keep fixings 13mm from paper-bound edges.
