About this board
Standard 3mm hardboard, 2440 x 1220, made from wood fibres pressed under heat and bonded mainly by the natural lignin in the wood, giving a smooth face and a textured mesh back. It is cheap, dense and flexible, and decorators, flooring fitters and furniture makers buy it in large numbers.
Lay it over floorboards as an underlay for vinyl and carpet, smooth side up, after conditioning it in the room for 48 hours. It also makes cheap drawer bases, cabinet backs and floor protection. Prices drop sharply at 100 sheets. Keep it dry, as standard board swells if wetted.
